One of those daft text in competitions on TV earlier had a prize of a long weekend for 2 in either Paris, Rome or Venice. If you won which would you choose? I think Rome but not sure.

without a moment's hesitation - Venice! I found it a magical place and would love to go back. Once you get away from the crowds in St Marks Square, there is such alovely atmosphere and so many beautiful things to see.
Not Paris.................I know some lovely French people, but Parisiens are a breed apart.
i hated paris...period...
Tell me it didn't really say *either* Paris, Rome or Venice...
Venice. Never been, would love to go. Have visited both Paris and Rome more than once.
Oh dear, I love Paris! Haven't been there in a while but I loved it found the people to be lovely, but we always used to stay in a small hotel up in Montmartre which felt very small and sort of villagey

No of course it didn't Mark. Please correct me with what it undoubtedly did say. Paris would be a firm no for me. I've never been to Venice but having spent a little time in Rome I've had a taster.
Venice for me as long wanted to go. Been to Rome and Paris several times.
My order of preference... Paris, Rome then Venice.

Paris just seems ideal to me...
Question Author
Have you been erin? Paris would be top choice if I was your age and hadn't seen it.
I've never been to Venice and, given that many people have told me that they've found it to be smelly, expensive and disappointing, it's not high on my list of places to visit.

I've never really been impressed with Rome. There are other Italian cities which I'd prefer to visit.

I love Paris. It's vibrant, fascinating, packed with culture, reasonably priced and with the most efficient waiters in the world.

Mark:
Perhaps the competition was set in conjunction with the 'i' newspaper. Their sub-editors have been guilty of allowing the 'either/or' error (with more than two alternatives offered) on several occasions recently.
I have been to all 3 many times. Personally Venice is the firm favourite followed by Rome. Paris is lovely but the other two are much nicer in my opinion.

No Chris the either error was mine, what an idiot I am. Have to agree that I'd heard Venice was expensive and smelly. Having spent a couple of days in the Forum/Coliseum I know there is masses more to see.
I've never been... I think I find it so appealing because I love art and fashion. It's one of the fashion capitals of the world!! :)

Moulin Rouge probably has a lot to do with it as well. It's one of my favourite films! I think I would be disappointed if I went and couldn't find Ewan McGregor though!! haha!
the unique smell of the metro, Angelina's for coffee ............Musee d'Orsay.
Days to wander round the Louvre ............ the RER out to Versailles - perfect!
Not been to Paris to stay but been twice to both Rome and Venice and would choose to go back to Rome any time.
Definitely ...

1. Venice

2. Paris

3. Rome
Venice, I went there as a 12 year old but too young to appreciate the beauty,
so I'd like to go back.
I adore Venice.
Who would you take with you for your romantic go in a gondola?
