toddler rash after tonsilitis and phenoxymethylpen
2 Answers
My 18 month old son has had tonsilitis - doctors prescribed phenoxymethylpen which he started taking on wednesday. He now has a small "raised red bumps" rash on his arm which we first noticed on wednesday. he's just had a bath and we noticed that its now on the tops of his legs, and a small area of his back. we've done the glass test and it disappears. we spoke with a pharmacist yesterday while out shopping, and he said that if its not bothering him, then just keep an eye on it. now that we've noticed the rash isn't just on his arm, we're thinking of maybe stopping the phenoxymethylpen but obviously they tell you to finish the course, otherwise the tonsilitis will come back..... he's not bothered by the rash at all, and he's now back to himself after being very poorly with the tonsilitis. husband wants to stop the medicine, i say finish the course. as its a bank holiday, won't be able to see doctor until tuesday by which time the course could have been finished. friend of mine said its probably a viral rash. does anyone have similar experiences? tia x

Finish the course of antibiotics, as I agree wit your friend...... it may even have been viral in the first place.
