/// Natnael Yemane, 15, an Ethiopian, carried the torch as part of the International Inspiration programme, a games sponsored initiative to encourage children at home and abroad to do more physical exercise. ///

Yes he has took the 'physical exercise' and it has 'inspired' him to scarper.

It would seem that we not only police the world but we have also took over the responsibility of enriching the lives of young people in such places as Azerbaijan, Brazil, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jordan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palau, South Africa, Tanzania, Turkey, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda and Zambia.

I wonder how much that costs the UK taxpayer?

I take it you do not share the police's concern for the safety of this boy.

No we haven't. 273 schools are "twinned" with overseas schools. Can't see a problem with that.
We don't know for certain that he has 'scarpered' . Sad that instead of celebrating international co-operation as a force for good some have to count the cost and moan.
maybe he wishes to apply for asylum....and with good reason?
"maybe he wishes to apply for asylum....and with good reason?

then let him apply in another country, why should take him
And he has turned up safe and well still in Nottingham. Not done a runner, not claiming asylum.

Maybe we could charge him with wasting police time AOG?

Glad to hear that he is safe and well, but I wonder if the police will be so successful in such a short time, tracing all those foreign nationals who go missing during the Olympic Games?

/// Maybe we could charge him with wasting police time AOG? ///

Charged? I don't suppose for one minute that he even got a ticking off for causing such trouble.
'Police had been concerned because his English is limited and he was described as not being "street-wise".'

Perhaps it's me but I don't find the fact that a child was missing under these circumstances amusing - glad he's safe.

He is 15, I was once criticised for calling a 13 year old a child.
