My daughter is single, age 31. She has promotion in her present employment which she starts in 4 weeks time. She has no ties & fancies a weeks holiday ALONE at a Warm Destination , basically just to relax, read & study.
She has TREID EVERYWHERE to book a holiday for ONE PERSON but she has been told that she MUST pay double as nobody caters for ONE PERSON alone !
Could this be because it is coming up to Kids Summer Holiday time & they know that they will get Family Bookings, obviously costing a damn site more than a single booking !
Does anybody have ideas as to WHERE she just might get a foreign holiday in a hot place at a decent price ?
Thank You ALL in advance, Kenny.

There are holiday companies for singles..has she tried any of them ?? google singles holidays...
There are all sorts of singles holidays around. She may have to pay a single supplement with some but not all.
she should do a flight only/room only none package deal.
ditto above links, but what about getting a cancellation nearer the time?

at least then the rip off price is less!

or a gite in france may not cost much, and she will get lots of privacy and peace!
plus, USA hotels are room only, so won't cost more!

boston and new york are both beautiful and warm!
Several of my friends travel alone (as I used to) - you don't have to pay double, but you probably have to pay a single supplement. Use one of the Single Traveller websites. There are plenty around.
Trouble is, prices are nearly always based on two people sharing and single people come off worse. She could try a spa holiday. La Source in Grenada caters for singles and I believe there is one spa treatment per day included.
you can even get single cabins on some cruises (with NCL)

I was going to say, try a cruise too jno. I can recommend P & O, although haven't been on a single cruise. They do have single berths though.
I'd just book separates and book a room only hotel and separate flight though easier to do maybe with city breaks. How about somewhere like Barcelona, Madrid, Rome etc... even a greek island, warm and maybe more likely to be able to book as separates than package deals.
Try contacting the tourist office in the area you're interested in. They will have someone who speaks English and have details of small family run hotels. They may even arrange the booking if you wish.
Small gites are very rare, as a couple we often had to book 4 bed gites.
If you say where you want to go on AB there should be many ABers who will recommend hotels.
Singles are treated badly, they usually have to pay a supplement for a single room. Its nothing new Kenny if she has to go alone she'll have to pay the single supplement.. sometimes the odd holiday comes up where there is no supplement to pay usually off season. She could look on-line for singles holidays. I have a single friend who goes on cruises on her own.
Not only do singles have to pay 25 percent - or more - over the price each member of a couple has to pay, but they get worse rooms. No balcony, no sea-view, often right next to the lift which rumbles all night - sometimes the window looks over a slum or a busy road. In some places a single person does not even get a chair to sit on - & is expected to sit only on the bed or a bathroom stool. Singles should also check the linen carefully - hotels seem to think a single person staying only one night does not dirty the linen enough for it to be changed for the next person !!!!!
