Donating beds to Tunisia

I just received this on an e-newsletter:
"Olympic opening ceremony beds donated to Tunisia

More than 300 hospital beds which featured in the Olympics opening ceremony to celebrate the NHS are to be donated to hospitals in Tunisia."

I won't want to knock a charitable gesture, but aren't there shelters and homeless places in this country who might have liked these (and cost less to transport)?
