I am thinking of booking a holiday and quite fancy Majorca, I haven't been for years. Me and husband are in our 50's so don't want to go to Magaluf but then again don't want anywhere isolated. Has anyone any suggestions. Thanks.

Santa Ponsa is quite nice. A few miles away from Magaluf with good beach and plenty of nightlife without the madness of Maga. It is also good for buses as there are quite a few of them to different places.
HI PUERTO POLLENSA IS VERY NICE, PRETTY & RELATIVELY QUIET BUT WITH A NICE SELECTION OF RESTAURANTS ETC. WE VISITED ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO & IS ONE OF THE PLACES ON MAJORCA I WOULD RETURN TO -WE ARE OF A SIMILAR AGE! GOOD LUCK.
Deya (Deia) in the northwest is beautiful and really interesting, (fabulous hotel La Residencia, but lots of more reasonable places). Robert Graves spent years there, raising a family, (see his son Tomas' book 'Tuning up at Dawn' for a real onsight into the village.)
More practical might be Port Soller, and it's inland sister town Soller. There is a little train between the two places, and the famous lemon train to the capital. Loads of great restaurants and all within about half an hour's drive from Palma.
