How long does it take for them to come through roughly, does anyone know? OH was coming off M25 onto the M3 when he realised there were those average speed cameras, he could have been speeding as it dropped to a 50 mph zone there.

Thanks for any replies.

Thanks Bednobs, I will await the post with trepidation.
Was it a "flasher"?
If they were just average speed cameras and he slowed down quick enough, by the time her left the 50mph zone it may be ok.

That's what we're hoping chrissa, they definitely were the average speed ones, they're sneaky buggers.
Aren't average speed cameras signposted?
Fingers crossed.

I can't remember seeing a sign Ummm, not to say it wasn't there though as I had my nose in the paper, I remembered seeing a sign for 50mph, when I looked up I saw the cameras and told him to slow down.
I know I've seen them on the M1.
For allegations of speeding detected by a remote device (e.g. a camera or a hand held speed gun) where the driver was not warned of a possible prosecution at the time the prosecuting authority must post, to the registered keeper (RK), a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) so that, in normal circumstances, it will arrive within 14 days of the alleged offence (the day following the offence counting as day one).

The NIP is will be accompanied by a request for the RK to provide details of the driver at the time of the alleged offence (which he has to provide within 28 days or he will be guilty of an offence under Section 172 of the Road Traffic Act). It will also usually be accompanied by a conditional offer of a Fixed Penalty.

Thanks NJ, it's day 14 on friday so hopefully I won't hear anything.
Were there roadworks in progress?

The average speed cameras would have been temporarily installed for them. Once the roadworks are completed they usually switch off the cameras and it can be weeks before they are removed.

Didn't think of that Hopkirk, there were no roadworks at the time we travelled but that's not to say that weren't there just before, the last time we travelled that way was about 3 years ago. Fingers still crossed, post has been this morning, still nothing.
only another day to go!
Question Author
Lol, I bet it comes in the morning!
I groaned when I saw you in Latest Posts rr.

Question Author
