hi all. I'm off on me big cycle next year...Bangor to Cardiff.

I'm doing it in 4 days and having trouble pronouncing a couple of the towns I'm stopping off at! Being English is bad enough, I'd like to at least correctly say where I'm staying!

The two places are Dolgellau and Rhyader. I'm fine with the others!

Dolgellau is Dol-geth-li, I've got friends near there. (you cycling down the A470 then?)
double L is pronounced like you trying to hack up phlegm.
Sorry, Rhyader is ray-der. Watch out for the artics screaming down the A470, they'll suck you off your bike!

lol, thanks all. I'm following the Sustrans NCN route 8.

NCN is National Cycle Network and it uses either traffic free or very light traffic routes.

I did the Coast to Coast from Whitehaven to Tynemouth last year using the NCN and was really impressed with the signing and layout - top notch. Sustrans have 10,000 miles of cycle networks across the UK.
Enjoy, sounds a lot safer than the A470!
Ratter - bad advice. Ll is pronounced by saying 'huluh' at the same time as passing the tongue from left to right across the top front of your mouth behind your front teeth. Not back of throat at all.
