Seasons greetings and all that...posting here for urgency...

Does anyone know if it would be possible to replace a lost passport before Friday?
A mate has lost his and has been told that he won't be able to get a replacement as it is 'lost' and will need to be investigated add to that it being the Christmas period.... not even sure they'll be open.... I'm posting this from my phone and have had no luck finding info on opening hours etc [London area]

He could always say an eagle stole it........just kidding!

Don't know if that's any help.
The passport advice line is open weekdays except bank holidays 0300 222 0000. If he doesn`t hand his old passport in (for whatever reason) when he gets a new one, he will have to have his identity certified via qualified persons (as when applying for a first passport)
You can try ringing them firdt thing in the morning for an appointment and take it from there. The only way is to go to the office.

Monday to Friday 7.45am - 9.00pm. Saturday 9.15 - 3.35pm. 0300 222 0000 (Adviceline)

The London office is situated on Eccleston Square/Belgravia Road. Most customers approach the building via Victoria Staion. Access to Globe House via Victoria Station comes via Hudson Place which is adjacent to Platform 1. This will take you onto Bridge Place. The London IPS Customer Service Centre can be seen on the right hand side, at the top of the road near the traffic lights.
There`s no point in having an appointment without ID identification from a qualified person (if you can fine one at this time of year)
As maidup says, he'll have to go in person, but seeking advice on the phone first thing tomorrow (him and many others, doubtless) seems a good idea.
... and I know from experience that replacing a lost passport does take longer than a straight renewal, as they have to check that the passport's not being used by ANOther.

Thank you all, not sure where he is getting his info from but he seems to think its a definite no, but seeing as it was lost on Christmas Eve I don't see that he could have spoken to anyone at the actual passport office....lets hope there is a way round it for him....thank you all for the numbers.

He could try that Public Holiday number zacs has posted - worth a try!
The first thing he should do is report it lost to prevent it falling into the wrong hands. He can do that online.
Is this for Poland? I hope you get everything sorted hun xx
As long as he's 100% sure he cannot find it.
Question Author
ASFASIK he has reported it lost/stolen...looks like he'll just have to see what they say in the morning.

Yes Erin, it is for Poland, unfortunately I had to drop out a while back as I'm having major issues with my back and can't walk more than 50 yards....its starting to look doomed from the start this trip :0(

Just out of curiosity, how does reporting it lost prevent it falling into wrong hands?
When you report it lost, it`s cancelled.
hi lisa....sorry to hear you have done yourself a mischief to your back. i did too 4 weeks ago and am suffering the same fate at present. hope you get yours sorted out soon....from the other lids x
lids? sorry....the other lisa! x
Question Author
I should imagine it doesn't but you would hope that once it has been reported the rest is down to the powers that be to stop it being used illegally.

Bless him...he's only 21 so carries it as ID and his phone and cards are gone too, not sure if he had his pocket pocked or it fell out.

Lisa x
Of course, I can see how that would stop it

hey Lisa, looks like theres no easy fix for mine, I had a MRI and it shows degeneration of the vertebrae, all they are offering for now is physio... its driving me nuts!!! I can't walk the dogs or anything. I did buy myself a bike for Christmas though...I'm working on the theory that I have no pain when sitting so exercising on a bike will be easier lol...watch this space!
