I am a pensioner and am having a taxi to take me to the nearest town to see a friend in hospital. It si costing me £15 each way and I wonder if I am expected to give a tip and if so how much Janet
you can if you want but its not expected in this country
i usually round up to nearest pound but i rarely get taxis and at £30 a day that's a fair wack. Could you not get someone to drive you and give them the petrol money?
Most taxi drivers are self employed and make enough money from the fares to earn a living. As you are travelling both ways its two tips you'll be saving.
yes i would sometimes round it up to the pound if it was, say £4.80 or something - but i am not obliged to.
many drivers add money on anyway that they shouldnt.
i had one try to charge me an extra £1.20 for a £2.80 journey that i had done many many times ... and i pulled him up on it ... it was the principle of it
and you get them being really slow and hovering with the change too, hoping you will just get out and leave it ... really irritates me.
