Have Any Of You Been To Viareggio On The Tuscan Coast, Italy?
Thinking of possibly booking a summer break here as it looks really nice. I can get cheap flights to Pisa but need to find a decent cheap hotel, preferably half board. I can look up on the internet, but would prefer it if I had a recommendation.

They sit by the side of the road on plastic chairs wearing very little in all weathers, especially in viareggio area! There is a restaurant in viareggio that does a fantastic spaghetti with tiny vongole in it and I will get the name of it if you are interested.
Thanks for those answers.
Mateous-2 I try and have a city break with a friend every year and Florence is fairly high on our list of places to go, so I may prefer to leave that for a visit lasting 3 or 4 days. Wouldn't mind a day out in Pisa or Lucca though.
Grasscarp - I think you've put me off Viareggio now, I've never seen any prostitutes in Cattolica where we've been on holiday a number of times. But I am looking at Tirrenia. It looks quite small, but reminds me of Formby, walking through the pine forest to get to the beach!

Spudqueen. Pisa has an attraction you dont hear much about and that is the 2000 year old boats that we unearthed when they were doing some work the railway station at St Rossore. I have been to see them and it is amazing in the detail, the preservation and sheer volume of what has been discovered. Pisa was previously part of a port area and this was swamped and preserved in silt until accidentally revealed. Lucca is where my husband was born and is a walled town. Tirrenia has lots of different beach areas. Some have wooded area between main road and beach but this is a hundred yards or so and nothing much really. If I can help further just ask.
