Run down chalets, and lots of 'entertainment'. There's a large fun fair next to it, and the beach is literally across the road.
If you go a bit further South, there's a Butlins in Minehead which I would say is the better of the two.

Haven't stayed there but apart from the swimming pool thing and (not cheap - dont know if guests get a discount) funfair that's it. Lots of pubs doing full English, bookies, arcades, etc. You would have to drive to get to a supermarket. Went there once on purpose (didn't like it) and managed to go there a second time when someone recommended it (and called it something differnet), just for the day each time but that was enough.
>>I stayed at Butlins in Minehead about 45 years ago - I am sure they used to be barracks :-)
You obviously have not been to Butlins for a while, they are now much more upmarket with some excellent accomodation and quality food choices.

Thing I don't like about Butlins lately is the fact that once you are there everything seems to be extra whereas you used to pay for the holiday and then most activities were free so can work out very expensive. Back to question not stayed at Pontins there but Burnham on Sea has a big Haven holiday camp which is only short distance from Brean Sands also Burnham on Sea is a nice little place to walk round.
To be honest, I didn't even think Pontins was still running! lol
As above, stay somewhere else. With regards to the Burnham suggestion above. Seriously? I couldn't think of anywhere more depressing.
If you're after something like what Pontins offer (entertainment, fun fairs etc) then I would go with the suggestion of Holiday Resort Unity.

As mentioned above, it's right next to the fun fair and close to the beach.
Or, why not travel 15 minutes down the road and stay just outside of Weston-super-Mare. http:// www.pur nholida ypark.c o.uk/ still has the entertainment and swimming pool (indoor only) but is a good base to spend the days in Weston... which is much better than Brean (in my opinion).
It's recently undergone a massive redevelopment, and The Pier is great fun for the kids http:// www.gra ndpier. co.uk/
Either way, I would stay clear of Pontins :-)

Lol. I was just thinking "you go for that many currys?" I can't for the life of me picture where The Anchor is.
Oh, and it's not off-topic, as we're advising chiara on places to go... or avoid! :)
Yeah, I'm sure I read in The Mercury that The Curry Cottage had shut down. May have just been temporary though.
