Hi everybody,I am new to long haul flights. Can someone please tell me the routine on a flight from Heathrow to Sidney leaving around 10 pm.When are meals served, when are the sleep periods.I know the flight time is approx 22 hours and you arrive 2 days later early morning but do you have two nights on the plane within that 22 hours.I would be grateful for some information.Thank you.

er - I think I've got this right, someone correct me if not - but I think you get one long night if you go west (via America) and two short ones if you go east via Asia. Food will be served differently according to which route you take, and on which airline. Sleep whenever you can - people usually recommend that you go on to destination time as soon as possible, which would mean sleeping for the eight hours or so before landing, whichever direction you go in (take ear plugs and an eye mask... plus gin and temazepam) - remembering you'll probably get your last meal one to two hours before landing, so calculate the eight hours before that. It'll probably take you a week or so to get completely over the jetlag, but you should be functioning reasonably after a couple of days.

Please bear in mind that this answer is approx(all Airlines vary) and is based on the route via Far East.

Board Flight Settle in for 2 Hours

2Hours Later Dinner

2 Hours Later Film

12 Hours Sleep (or read etc)

2 Hours Breakfast

2 Hours Arrive

I hope this makes sense,if not let me know! LOL

PS One or two ther tips:~

You may get another meal(see above) it depends on the schedule.

DO NOT,(If possible) drink acohol,it dehydrates you.

If you remove your shoes, your feet will swell up,so try and keep you shoes on.

Get up and walk about, this helps circulation of the blood, and prevents blood clots.

Above all have a Great Time!
