It's not taking it out but taking it into the country you're going to

They're hardly lethal weapons but tea? I can;t see why it wouldn't be allowed but you'll need ot check the country you're travelling to
No - They're considered no risk as they're both dry powder...... just don't make your tea before boarding :)
Why don't you just put them in your case? You're not going to need them on the journey are you?
At Johannesburg airport this week the security took my bag of reading material to one side and said I had a "fok". She repeated it several times but I hadnt a clue what the problem was. She raked around - ignoring the liquid (facial spray) - and pulled out a telescopic back scratcher which I wasnt aware I had with me. She showed it to her colleague and they decided I could keep it. Security is always a bit of a mystery. Tea bags and dried soup will be fine, but anything not needed on the journey better in your checked in luggage.
No, restrictions apply only to liquids
Fine.
"No, restrictions apply only to liquids"

Rather a strange name do_you_travel when the advice you have given is incorrect

I'm not so sure the tea would be allowed into some countries myself but I agree with Tilly, to just out them in hold luggage
PS What ever you decide to take don't forget to declare it
Where are you going ? Australia is VERY strict about not importing food in any form.
That's along the lines I was thinking, New Zealand is the same

But with no further input from the OP ......

Thanks all. Have contacted airport as a back up, and there are no restrictions on these items.
One hopes it's the airport you are travelling TO and not the one you are going from?
You can take all manner of things out, but whether or not you are allowed to take them in is completely different
