Anyone Been To Amsterdam? Going For Two Night Break In April.
Five of us going so have booked flights and now looking for hotels.
Don't know the city but want to be fairly central so not messing around with transport but also not too noisy - we all need our beauty sleep!
There seem to be so many districts(including the red light one) and I don't really know where to start looking.
I've had a quick look on trip advisor but want to try and narrow down whereabouts we want to stay.
Any advice anyone please?

Amsterdam has a good transport system and I found it easy to get from one district to another.

Few years back now but was great and we got a good deal, probably via Lastminute.com or Expedia.
Near the station which was handy getting there via train from Schipol, right by Dam Square and we walked everywhere, the one place which was a little bit of a long walk was the zoo but lots of lovely places to stop for coffee along the way.
We didn't get breakfast there but plenty of places right by it to get breakfast.
Was a lot pricier than I thought it would be.

I was in Amsterdam last week! I actually really struggled to find a hotel but eventually found this one http:// www.hot elnicol aaswits en.nl/i ndex.ph p?lang= en& gclid=C Oel69jS 17UCFZD KtAodUn UAWg
which had everything we wanted, twin beds, en-suite bathrooms, room safe, breakfast and city tax included, and most importantly, a lift - very rare in Amsterdam. It is not bang in the city centre, but about 10 minutes away on either a 25 or 4 tram, on a nice quiet street, but only a few minutes from a load of restaurants.
