There are a couple of simulator type things where you feel like you're on a bottle production line and another where you feel like you're on a horse & carriage ride through the city. It's suitable for everyone from 0 to 99 years.
The Anne Frank museum was high on my list - it's certainly thought provoking.
Obvious and probably on your agenda but I'll answer it anyway - the canal tour. I didn't do it until the third time I went, but its very interesting, and you get to see a lot of the city from the water.
Thw Melkweg is good for bands and live ents, but if you are taking your mum it might not be her cup of tea, although you never know!!
Whatever - have fun, its a great place.

A city of great charm with the best Holland has to offer: treelined canals, beautifully kept historic buildings, charming hotels, topclass restaurants, funshopping and great bars. Delft is a 'must-see' on your vist to the Netherlands.
It's a beautiful place with loads of character. The weekly markets are amazing, especially the flower market.

Also if you have time, go by train or tram (I think) to the Madurodam ) on the way to Den Haag. Its a minature village, sort of like Legoland but not built of lego if you know what I mean.
When I went a few years ago it also had an Ice Sculpture Exhibition - so they may still have something similar on exhibition now.
Also if you like flowers then the floating Flower market is worth a trip - thats in Amsterdam itself.
