Can Anyone Help With Planning A Route

to get here, i can't seem to find any direct way, and it would have to be
public transport. I am not sure if Egham is the nearest station. Coming from central London

The 71 bus serves the Air Force memorial . It runs between Heathrow Terminal 5 and Slough via Staines , Egham and Englefield Green.

Yes, Egham Station is the best connection coming from London Waterloo, on the Windsor and Eton line. The train divides at Staines, the one before Egham.Get in one of the first four coaches to be sure, and check.

The journey to Egham from Waterloo is about 35 mins. There are other trains which take the loop round by Hounslow so look out for that on the indicator.They join up with the more direct route, but take longer.

At Egham on leaving the station turn right and walk up Station Road to the traffic lights. Turn left to the bus stop . The 71 runs about every half hour.

Englefield Green is very near, at the top of Egham Hill.

The bus travels through the village and passes the village green on the left.

The first stop by the green is Barley Mow Road. Alight at the next one, ( you will have told the driver you want the Memorial.) This is the Coopers Hill Lane stop. Cross over and follow Coopers Hill Lane for about 250 yards, bearing right at a minor crossroads, towards the Memorial and Car Park.

The 441 does run between Egham and Englefield Green but turns left away from the village before the village green......still within walking distance of Coopers Hill Lane, but longer.

I hope your friends enjoy the visit. It is a beautiful and tranquil place,with wide views for miles over to Windsor and Slough.

Englefield Green has always been a very pleasant place, with a lot of beautiful homes. Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller lived there for four months in 1956 when they were newly weds. She was making the Prince and the Showgirl.

many thanks, sorry to not get back before. My friends brother is listed on one of the memorials, sad thing, he was in the Australian air force, and was killed in WW2 age just 21.
