We'll be driving down from Belfast to Dublin in August, can someone give me any info on the tolls (prices and currency), also I've been informed that you drive through one without paying and then you settle up later (in a garage or something?) seems a bit odd.

Thanks for any replies.

Thanks Sandy, that's what I wanted. Will have to make sure I've got some euro coins before I go.
Lol you would not believe the amount of times we have driven down without any Euros!! luckily they will take pound coins or you can pay with cards!

Thanks fgt, it's a pain looking for euro's over here (though I think there's some round the church so I'll check the exchange rate) Do you know much about the toll on the M50, think it's the M50? ;)

Looked online, you can pay by card by 8 o clock the next day on the website, I'll probably forget, though, SIL said to go in a garage and pay. Not clear at all and I really struggle with her accent over the phone, Dubs speak too fast.
ahhhh yes that toll road!! Been on it 3 times and not paid once - you can phone it through and each time we never managed it!!!

Did you get fined?
nope!! and the last time was over a year ago
M50 toll is €3.10 and can be bought in advance or after the journey at many shops and filling stations.

I just know that if I didn't pay it I'd have a bloody great fine waiting for me when we get back, that'd be my luck ;)

Thanks balliali, can you prepay it online?
