my son goes to Herghada mid september and I have just advised him to keep in touch with thomas cook and take their advice and also i have sent him the Gov. site link from the foreign office with their advice. I don't think he needs to worry about anything yet, am i right in telling him that his travel agent will advise him if things get worse in plenty of time to change the holiday?

I guessed as much, he doesn't listen to the news at all and he's at work in the pub and just seen stuff on the big sky screen and texted me asking what's happening! The government site says sharm is ok and this resort is further down and across the bay from there and not in the red or orange areas on the warning map.
I posted a question earlier about sharm. But how comes these areas lower down are safe and the rest of the country is not ? I have booked Sharm for September so fingers crossed.
I'd guess they're considered safer because they're fairly isolated and away from the turmoil in the big cities.
But having said that there were murderous bombs planted there in 2005.
