Hi Peeps!

I'm off to York city in the UK for Halloween with my little boy who is 8 years old.

Does anybody have any must see and do's?

Also is there anything to do in the evening (bearing in mind the little one).

Any help would be very much appreciated!

hi! haloween isn't a huge event over here, but whilst you're in York on that date, it would be a fun idea to do one of the ghost walks in the city. they are really popular and ejoyable, and especially on Haloween. There is plenty it do in York - shopping, museums, walks, sight-seeing. The little one might enjoy a trip to the east-coast to one of the spectacular beaches - Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby etc. Evening entertainment tends to be restaurants/bars etc, especially at that time of year when it will be cold. however, as i said, the ghost walk is a must. enjoy! post again if you need any more  help closer to the time!

There are several Ghost Walk/Tours that take place most evenings from near the city centre.  They can't be too frightening as they are often packed with children aged 7-12.

If you get a chance pay a visit to the Jorvik Viking Centre.  You are taken through a time warp back to how York looked at the time of the Vikings, complete with house interiors and village scenes.  They even provide the smells!  Obviously there is the Minster(Cathedral) though there are a lot of stairs for an 8 year old to negotiate if you climb one of the spires!

Take yourselves to the National Railway Museum, free admission and loads of hands on exhibits, ideal for a youngster.
There's also the York Dungeon (run by the same company as the London Dungeon)
