We are planning a day trip to Granada in September, but are unsure where the most important places to visit are, and where to get the best pre-booked ticket deals. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure if tour operator shops include entrance ticket as well as coach price, but I seem to remember when buying ticket at the Alhambra itself you are only allowed in at a set time. ie you could arrive at 12 mid day but your ticket will only allow you in at 2 pm.
I went a few years ago and we just walked in, fabulous place, but so many gypsies around trying to polish your shoes. We were warned of this so wore jellies, that flummoxed them.
Bob, I seem to recall that there are certain buildings within the complex where that applies - you have to book a time to go in them - but I don't think it applies to the main entrance. It's a vast place, so plenty to see there. Beautiful. We just parked the car and bought our tickets at the door.
Here's chapter and verse on ticketing for alhambra. Good luck with it and let me know if you figure it out!

Also check out Carrera del Darro and Granada Cathedral online.
The Mezquita at Cordoba is a must also.
