Because of poor eyesight I use a magnifying glass to read.
I will be flying on holiday next week and wondered if I would have
a problem carrying the magnifying glass in my hand luggage?

I can think of no reason why it could be a problem. It certainly doesn't break any of the specific rules on the contents of hand luggage. (The only way that it could be considered 'dangerous' would be if you were to break the glass and use it as a weapon but that could also apply to any of the millions of bottles of booze, purchased in airport shops, which are carried in hand luggage every year).
hi Mampara. I've checked on the Government site and can find nothing for magnifying Glass...Link below

No problem. It`s not classed as dangerous goods.

Thanks everyone - especially for the link provided.

I like to read on the plane as it helps pass the time.

Slight digression,but-depending on how bad your sight is...get some inexpensive reading glasses....or invest in an ereader. Then you can adjust the font size to suit your vision. It just seems that holding a magnifying glass must be awkward after any length of time.
Just a suggestion - I travelled to Canada earlier this year and I downloaded a book to my iPhone and listen to it on the journey. I found this more relaxing than actually reading.

Thanks for the suggestion pastafreak.

In addition to having poor sight I am hopeless with modern technology
and don't think I could operate an Ereader.
I don't have an ereader Mampara but from this link they look incredibly easy to use..... Link below

Good point from pastafreak, other than studying maps, I can't remember having ever seen anyone reading with a magnifying glass, perhaps you could test a Kindle or suchlike somewhere. How do you read this by the way?
Lol...you may surprise yourself,Mampara. I got one about 18 months ago.also bad with techy stuff-and it was the best thing I ever did..
