Good afternoon ABers
Theoretical situation : I take medication for Hypertension which keeps it under control, so in theory I don't have high BP. When applying for travel Insurance and I get asked medical questions, i'e. do I have High BP, do I answer Yes or No ?? Strange one I know, but would like to get some views on this as the Insurance companies load premiums heavily for those with high BP.
Many thanks

As far as a doctor is concerned, you suffer from hypertension (even though it's under control), so it's likely that an insurer would expect you to declare it.
Normally they don't ask if your suffering Hypertension directly, but they do ask if your taking any medication.
In your case the answer would be yes and therefore further questions would ensue.
You do suffer from high BP - it is artificially controlled by drugs which if terminated would cause recurrence of BP.

Failure to mention in insurance application could void any claim.

If you had one normal leg and one prosthetic leg and were asked if you had one or leg or two ....?

On the medical declaration section you will need to declare high blood pressure and then answer the question about how many medications you take/have they been increased. Whether it is under control or not is immaterial.
