not a good idea, call it something else if they have to have another bank holiday.
I hope this isn't true. Why open up old wounds
Just adding fuel to the fire and encouraging a whole day of protests.
They could call it 'No Labour Day'
We here in Wales enjoyed our extra Bank Holiday on the 17th April this year very much. An annual holiday to commemorate Tina would be most welcome, thank you very much !
You might have been celebrating her funeral on 17th April 2013, Mikey, but it wasn't a Bank Holiday as far as I'm aware
i don't celebrate anyone's death, that is a bit macabre. however if they were intent on creating another bank holiday perhaps they could call it something else, wouldn't it be better if it was associated with Queen Elizabeth rather than Mrs T

It's a Private Members' Bill.

The proposal isn't for an extra day- it's just to rename the August Bank holiday.

I can't see it being passed. It seems a silly idea from an 'out of touch' MP

Thanks for putting me right f-f, the news bulletin I heard it on suggested, to me anyway, that a new BH was being discussed. I hope this Bill fails, surely not the most popular politician of the 20th century
how about Churchill day....
All sorts of odd ideas get put forward in Private Member's bills- they just need a sponsor and around 3 supporters. This had it's first reading earlier this year. Today is the second reading at which MPs will vote on whether to let it go on to the next stage. Labour and SNP won't support it (unless they want to be mischievous), I can't see the Liberals supporting it and many Tories will probably find they have an urgent appointment elsewhere and can't attend the vote
Oops- its not it's (in case Tilly is checking up on me)
It was in Treorchy FF !
you ve been had - its a wind up
There is a PMBill 2nd reading today though, PP

Factor, as if I would!
Personally speaking I admired the woman...but...it would become a protester' s day ..many of whom couldn't remember her or what she did...rightly or wrongly..she got us through the Falklands !
She does have history of closing businesses, not just for a day though.
so did Labour, should we have a harold wilson day, or just pick a name and have done with it.
