I am going to see Katy Perry next May with my 9yr old daughter and will need to stay over. It's on a Sat night and I am not very familiar with Newcastle city centre however I have been before and would be open to travelling on the tube if necessary. I have been reading some reviews on trip advisor and it seems that all the major city centre hotels that are close to the arena will be full of hen & stag nights and rowdy drunken people lol. Not sure if this is quite the environment I wish to have whilst with my daughter! Years ago I stayed in Jesmond and was unsure if I would be better stopping slightly out of the centre or whether it would be unwise to be on public transport late at night? I am guessing the concert probably wont finish until at least 10.30pm. I wont be driving either so a car park isn't an issue. What would others recommend?

hi, while i haven't been to newcastle, if you are worried about your daughter being in that environment, i would be wary about taking her to KP - i think her lyrics are sexulaised plus very suggestive dancing. I sound victorian i know!

Lol I know what you mean. She loves all her songs though as do I! Its just that I don't want to be in a hotel room next to young party people who think its ok to party all night and disturb my sleep that's all!
How are you anyway? I haven't been on here for ages properly, never seem to have the time any more!
Jurys Inn is just across the road from the Arena, but I've no idea of how much it would cost. Also it is not far from the railway station and the national bus station.
The nearest hotel in the area is Jurys Inn Newcastle, next will be Holiday Inn Express Newcastle City Centre, Thistle Newcastle City Centre, The County, Hotel Indigo Newcastle and the last would be Newgate Hotel Newcastle. If you can book a reservation before the said concert that will be good. Just expect the rates will be higher though because of the concert. If you have no choice but to travel then you might want to cover your daughter's eyes while on the road or explain to her that it is not good. Also, I think the security around will be tight so you both will definitely be safe.
