My Annual Travel insurance is threatening to increase by over £100.00 to have a week's skiing holiday in February just two months before my 70th birthday! Has anyone been able to secure travel insurance for less than £80.00 for a single trip which includes skiing (with existing medical conditions?) Blimey that makes me sound like an old crock - I don't feel like one !

This company will at least quote. They are recommended by Macmillan etc. for people with medical history. http://www.itssoeasytravelinsurance.com/

Skiing is risky at any age and fitness (recent events)...so I can understand why insurance premiums are high. I don't think you will find many "bargains".
Can only offer sympathy. Scotland is the best bet I have found as the companies take no account of your fitness and pile it on.
As hinted above your helmet is the best insurance.

Thank you ginejbee, seadogg and Grumpy 01. Yes, Schumakker is in a bad way, but I suspect that I won't be either off piste or travelling at his sort of speeds.
I live in Scotland and have never experienced such cold temperatures and long queues compared to the Alps. It's making it a very expensive holiday though - I hope it's not my last, but at 69 now, the insurance companies are not going to like 70 and upwards. I'll have to make some phone calls next week. But, thanks again for your posts.
Yes go to Scotland so it is covered by the NHS. Ski insurance is expensive for anyone , an OAP with medical conditions is going to pay a fortune for cover.
Think how much Shumacher's medical bill will be! I know he is so rich he can pay out of his own pocket but the cost is the same.
