I've never been to the Tattoo and it is about time I did.
Any advice? We live in the West Midlands and can't decide on doing a coach/hotel/Tattoo trip with the like of Shearings or go by train and book our own hotel and buy our own tickets.
If you do go - please remember to wear warm clothes and a coat with a hood.
It's a great atmosphere when you see it live. The TV coverage only scratches the surface of the entertainment on display.
Usually fireworks are after the late Saturday Performance although last year there were fireworks at all performances. You'll not get the best seats now, booking opens in November although the new seating as luxurious compared with the older style! Accommodation is horrendously expensive within a 25 mile radius of Edinburgh.
We went 5 years ago and loved it. Go for the organised coach trip. Hotels are very expensive as it's also the Edinburgh Fringe during August. Another reason to go, some great street artists. Book ASAP as very popular .
