Son and daughter in law have just called with my birthday present. 2 tickets to see Status Quo in Scarborough Open Air Theatre in July! Can't wait. So what I'd like to ask of fellow ABers is first hand knowledge of somewhere nice to stay.

Thank you. x

Lovely pressie, Horseshoes....I don't know anywhere but maybe you could bunk down with someone in Whitby....☺

Wonder if you'd get a good deal on Groupon...I've never used it but friends do and were more than happy...x
Hiya horseshoes, sorry never been there but trip advisor will give you some helpful reviews on hotels.

Great present though

Thanks both. At least I have plenty of time to find somewhere. I'll be researching like mad from now until then. Can't wait! Love the Quo. I've seen them about 8 times.
Seadogg lives in Scarborough so if you do an FAO for his attention he should be able to help.
If I can give you a tip it is take a cushion as sitting on cold concrete is not very comfy.
I know one decent hotel in the town centre but it is quite pricey

Thanks Mrs O. I've been looking at Trip Advisor, and I like the look of Red Lea Hotel. I'll try to contact Seadogg to see what he thinks. Don't mind pricey, as long as you get what you pay for! As to the seats, I have plenty of padding! Hope you're fully recovered now.

Oh ha flippin' ha Chewn! They're such a terrible band that they've only lasted 50 odd years!
horseshoes.... Scarborough and with it it's hotels have gone down the "nick" in the past 25 years....it is not the place it was, in it's heyday.

I would suggest the Crown on the Esplanade.

Like a lot of seaside towns sqad, more's the pity. We have more than our fair share of them here in North Wales. I know where I lay part of the blame, but I'm not getting embroiled in that debate, and it's nothing to do with cheap foreign holidays! Anyway, thank you for that recommendation; I shall check it out.

Have a look on trip advisor. I recently had a weekend in the dales & picked a B&B that had good recommendations....It was excellent.

Lol @ Sipowicz.
Horseshoes... don't listen to anyone who knocks Scarborough! We did the Status Quo/Scarborough tour last July and it was fab! Firstly the concrete seats arn't there anymore they're 'proper' plastic ones, you still might like a cushion, we didn't bother but have got lots of natural padding, also as soon as the Quo came on no-one was sitting anyway. Can't say much about the hotels as we took our trusty caravan but there is a Premier Inn and Travelodge. We thought Scarborough much improved from when we used to go many moons ago. Mr M lived there till he was 16 so likes to go and see what changes have been made.
ps Why not try a B&B? A word of warning.. we did try for a hotel/B&B but they got booked up very fast hence us taking the 'van.

Great Masma, that's exactly what Quo is all about. The minute they come on, the place rocks, and nobody is sitting down. I've been to see them MANY times. People knock them, as they knock Scarborough and other places, but hey ho. I KNOW we'll have a good time.
I will say I'm not really a fan - Mr M had the tickets for his birthday last year (our kids thought it really funny that I'd have to go and see them) but.. they were great! I wouldn't mind some of their energy, I'm much the same age but they put most youngsters to shame!
masma. all well ? excuse me hs.
Everything still firmly crossed Anne.. 15 weeks and counting, he did brilliantly over Christmas and New Year. Thanks for asking xx
great news,
