We are holidaying in Staffordshire near Cheadle in October. 2 adults and 2 kids can anyone recommend where to visit? Planning Alton towers and Drayton manor. Open to anywhere..museums , etc. Thanks

We had a fantastic day at Ironbridge, just below Telford. There are 10 museums/attractions on the one site, some indoor and others outside, all along the river valley and relating to industrial and local life.

A day in Chester is worth adding to your list, and a walk around the uniquely complete city walls. Stop halfway round for a drink or an ice cream by the river.

Consider a visit to the beautiful Chatsworth House in the derbyshire Dales.

Go via Bakewell where a traditional Bakewell Tart in one of the many tea rooms is a must!

There are lots of things to do.

You can visit Trentham Estate, shops/eateries or a nice walk round the lake. The Monkey Firest is also near Trentham, well worth a visit.

There is Gladstone Pottery museum, the staffordshire hoard can be seen in The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.

You can do trips to Derbyshire, as someone has said Bakewell and Chatsworth House are worth a visit.
