.....was a disaster!

I'm am bothered a little but not as much as I feel I should. In turn learnt more today than I have before. My instructor said it could be down to change of location, change of time, the fact that this is the first lesson I've had just after booking my test - we thought my boots had a part to play as well but I don't think that had anything to do with it.

Not a question just feeling a bit deflated :(

Don't worry, just a blip. I remember when I was learning I was really confident in our family car but then had my first lesson with an instructor in his car - I came home, flung myself on the bed and bawled my eyes out!
Plateau learning ! We never learn new things in one continuous, gradual, process. We go in stages. One minute we seem to be falling back or not making progress, and then suddenly we are at a completely new, higher level, "plateau". And the plateau is flat; we stay at that level for a while, until we suddenly go to the next.

And the boots didn't help !

Aww Prudie :(

I know its just a blip but I think its just I've came down off a high and I wasn't ready for it. I know its not the end of the world and I can only take what happened today and avoid doing it when I sit my test in a few weeks.

I've driven in these boots before Fred so I didn't think it was but he did ask if there was any footwear I liked to drive in and I said my flat red boots, my peach pumps and my gladiator sandals (which at this time is a no-no!)

But will see what next sunday brings :)
Queenie, I have tentatively started to drive again so I do know how you feel. I couldn't drive wearing boots so your instructor may have a point. Has he taken you on the test courses? Don't let it get you down, better to happen now and have a trouble free test! My instructor changed his car the day before my test and during the test I thought the engine had stalled and kept trying to restart it!
Flat shoes are best for driving. Boots, especially with heels, are a bit awkward, in my experience.
I think it's what you get used to. I always drive in heels and find flats feel odd on the pedals.
Come on Queenie, don't let it get you down. We have all had driving lessons like this it's, just part of learning. You can't expect to be perfect every time otherwise you would not need the lessons.
Keep your chin up. You can do it.
Youa are right, Prudie. It's what you are used to.

Queenie, just remember that your instructor feels you are ready for your test. You have just had a bit of a blip today.
A thinnish sole will help too, you "feel" the controls better.

Thank you all :) I've just treated myself to cheer me up but you guys have helped too :)

My boots are relatively flat they have a block heel and haven't had issues before but I will admit I do much prefer my flatter boots. So red robin hood boots next time it will be :) Can feel everything in them.

I'm just annoyed that for me bad things come in 4's rather than 3's 4 minors last week and 4 serious this week. But I will dust myself off and give myself a wee shake and get on with it.

Yes Sib we are doing Test routes - today's didn't involve the A1 which I will admit I actually like, I also like the independent driving part as well. We did the progress thing today as well and I remembered my errors from last week. But he does insist on taking me through the set of traffic lights I don't like (its just one side of them I can't cope with) I always seem to stall at them and today it happened twice - ooops! But there is at least 6 test routes to do in my area so will see how we go...if I remember them I'll get my friend to take me out so I can get in some more extra practice
