First Class Rail Travel

I am taking my Daughter to London by Rail,apart from the price, what is the difference between 1st and Standard Class Travel? Many Thanks for any replies.
(I have to go now but will respond to any replies tomorrow.)

OH and I did a return trip from N/Kent to London bridge station today, the first class were 16 seats at the end of a standard cattle-class carriage, the only thing marking them out was an antimacassar with '1st' writ large upon it!

Metropolitan/Circle/Hammersmith & City line three stops westbound from Kings X to Baker St, then Jubilee Line north one stop to St John's Wood should do it. (Not sure but tube travel might be included in the cost of your mainline ticket - Buenchico will know.)

Might even see you there on the 14th. And who knows, the England team may turn up too, which is more than they did in the Ashes.

Although it's possible to buy normal 'walk up' tickets to "London Zone 2" (which is what you'd need to include travel to St John's Wood), 'Advance' tickets aren't normally available to include onward travel from a London terminus.

Destination is Zone U12* London (not travelcard)
