Baggage Allowance On Easyet

Not being a seasoned air traveller, please will somebody confirm something for me. My friend (who IS a seasoned air traveller) says I can take my small suitcase on wheels (cabin bag) AND my handbag. When I look at the easy jet website I can't see where this is stated. I am NOT taking ANY hold luggage. Thank you.

No. Easyjet still only allow 1 item of hand luggage and a handbag is classed 1 item.

I was looking at flights this week. I obviously mixed up Easyjet with Monarch.

It's a stupid rule because they let you take your handbag out of your case as soon as you board.

Definitely it's a No - I always leave a gap in my cabin bag, so that I can cram a handbag in before I check in and go through security. It comes out as soon as I'm on the plane, as it has things in it that I need on the flight. Those of us with laptops or tablets or Kindles must remember that those need to be IN the cabin bag too (but you have to take them out to show at security).

I haven't found easyjet any slower than any of the other airlines, methyl - not at big airports like Gatwick, anyway?

I hope horseshoes comes back and sees these later posts, so she doesn't try to take her handbag through separately!

As long as her handbag will fit in her suitcase she'll be fine.

Before Ryanair changed their rules I had the smallest handbag in the world and they made me put it in my suitcase!!

Yes I can confirm what has been said. I went on EJ to Amsterdam two weeks ago and announcements were made frequently in the "holding pen" to the effect that only one item was permitted.

I wouldn't say EJ was "awful", methyl. (Well, I do have a vested interest as I am a shareholder!). You just have to accept that they are a budget airline. Their rules on baggage etc. are quite clear; their ticketing and check-in procedures seem to work OK and they are really just operating a bus service. I'm not sure I'd care to use them for flights or more than an hour or perhaps two at most, but then they don't go to many places much further afield than that.

You pays your money and takes your choice.

Yes and returning to Gatwick my bag was on the carousel long before I was there to collect it. I don't think that the baggage delivery is under the airline's control, being dealt with by the airport's handling agents.
