The obvious flaw in your arguement is that 75% of the figures you are quoting were BEFORE the the restrictions were lifted.

ONS said that there no flood after 1st of January which is true. The figures comparing before the end of restrictions and after have not really changed. There has been a steady stream over the year, not a surge at the end.

The number of non-UK nationals registering for a National Insurance number could only be a valid measure of how many non-UK nationals are in the country if anyone leaving the country was required to de-register which, obviously, they're not.

Using the Daily Mail's flawed methodology, if 50,000 new arrivals registered for National Insurance during the same period that 60,000 people returned home, they'd be able to claim an increase of 50,000 people when the truth was actually a decrease of 10,000.

in the town where I work, nearly all of the big issue sellers are Romanian. they have been here for more than 18 months and were entitled to sell big issues as they had "self employed" status. but they're no more homeless or disadvantaged than I am. they muscled out the previous vendors (who were homeless) and now defend their pitches with an aggression that borders on the illegal. none of them speak English but make very clear their displeasure when you won't buy their wares.

If these stats are true then it's interesting and for that matter perhaps rather less surprising than the apparent drop in rates in the first three months of this year. On the other hand, it's still many, many times less than UKIP were implying, trumpeting figures like "21 million people living in Romania who now have free access to the UK" and very clearly implying that they would all wish to come here. No matter if there has been a fall or a rise in the numbers coming here since January 2014, the rate is vastly under what UKIP was clearly trying to imply, and there should be at least some acknowledgment that this was nothing other than scaremongering.

i don't think anyone would imagine that many millions were waiting at the boarding gates to get their passage to Britain, however now that they have access to the job market and all it entails, it doesn't take much to suppose that many more will come, and the arrangement isn't going to be reciprocal, seeing as the reason they leave are largely economic.

Very valid AOG and also how much land have we got to keep building houses with not only immigrants coming to live and work here, but for the future and their offspring? Does no one actually care about space for the population to live here, that we are taking more and more, it cannot go on forever - we live on an island FGS!
