Importing a Camper Van from Germany

Myself and my boyfriend are looking to buy Camper van from Germany becasue of the price. Has anyone purchased a vehicle abroad and brought it back? Do you know about all the documents that must be completed? Is it as complicated as it all sounds?!?!

There's a government site here which details all you have to do - it's probably worth it if you can stand the bureaucracy: http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/exptimpt.htm There used to be a great informal secondhand Vee Dub place on London's South Bank (?? can't remember the exact address) -- just a street where travellers, Kiwis, Aussies, the lot, would meet up ion Sunday mornings to buy and sell vans. I'll try and find out if it still exists in any form.

This is not so much an answer as a related question. Did you find any websites with vans for sale in germany? Iam hoping to import one into ireland and i am looking for second hand uinits in germany
