Keeping In Touch On Cruise Ship

If I 'lose' my other half on a cruise, (no quips please) and our mobiles cant get a network, any ideas for something small we can use ? Walkie talkie ?

I would just head for the nearest bar if I lost mine, in the past. Always worked for me.

You can telephone a cruise ship and get through to the persons room, but it is VERY expensive see this link.

Better to wait until they are ashore and use a mobile then but remember that most mobile phone companies charge extra for overseas calls and they will be in a different country every time they are ashore .

I've never not had a mobile signal, even in the middle of the Atlantic........

My elderly great-aunt and her even older best friend used to holiday together on land and on sea.

Laura had an awful sense of direction (she managed to get lost in my house) and so they took to attaching balloons to their wrists.

If Laura excused herself for any reason, my aunt would scan the room to see Laura's "Frances, where are you?" balloon and slowly raise her own "Laura, I'm here."

It never failed........:o)

Craft .. My OH's mobile is antique and mine's not much better. He isn't allowed to use it when he is with me, its too embarrassing. I was thinking of a walkie talkie ? Roger and out ...

My sister and her husband used to do this when they were shopping in town, so they could separate and meet up later. They got cheap walkietalkies from an electrical shop. The ship will have wifi. Do your ancient phones have text facilities?

Just arrange to meet up back at your cabin if you lose each other. Not sure how you would get lost. Presumably you are together eating, drinking, sunbathing, playing quoits etc?

I can see how - some ships are massive, and you go off and do different activities during the day. You wouldn't stay glued together :-)
