For a 'tourist' stop over in Hong Kong, is it better to stay on Hong Kong Island or Kowloon?

Also, the picture postcard view of the Hong Kong skyline - are the buildings on Hong Kong Island, and therefore best viewed from Kowloon, or vice versa?

Thanks.

When we went hotels were cheaper on Kowloon and it was slightly less touristy and manic.

The view you describe is of Hong Kong island from Kowloon and therefore can only be seen from Kowloon.  A hotel room with that view is very expensive.

However the ferry from Kowloon to Hong Kong is very cheap and well worth as an experience in its own right.  Buses and the metro are also good and very cheap.

Hi there
Went a few years ago.

The view you mention is from Kowloon towards Hong Kong island.

Picture postcard views at a bargain price can be found here:_

Right next to the Pen with great views and great access to everything you'd want to see!

Enjoy!!

Kowloon is where the action is. No contest, particularly the night markets and late night shopping. Restaurants everywhere, especially authentic local ones.

The post card view is not from Kowloon though, but generally taken from the peak (HK island) looking back. Enjoy.
