According to this, it's not far but you're negotiating the airport - a taxi's only three quid (it says) (scroll down to the train section)

Below is AA route, 5 minute drive about 1.3 mile walk. Depending on what you are carrying about 25 mins.

I wouldn't bank on being allowed to walk along that road - or if allowed it being safe to do so.

I don't remember seeing any pavements along that stretch of road, I wouldn't walk it.
