Why are we spending so much money and effort on this? Surely we don't want them back?

And rather than spending money on looking for people like this wouldn't the money be better spent on a one way ticket to ISIS, once they have denounced British citizenship of course.

If the parents had adopted British culture and values then maybe they would still have their daughters? This is their [the parents] fault not the Police, not the Government and not Turkeys

I have often said, in these cases, that I believe the parents of these young kids are culpable and should be dealt with. I get the usual howls of indignation from the usual suspects.
I wouldn't 'just' blame the parents. The same mosques crop up time after time in relation to terror etc. stories. There should be a major investigation into what they get up to.
ymb. Agree totally with all your points. They've gone, their choice.
Normally I'd be with you on this. I'd be wishing good riddance to young idiots wanting to join terrorist gangs. I'd even give them a lift to the airport.

15 though - just clueless kids really. I'm sure they're regretting it already.
And why all this emotive language "Fears they have crossed into Syria" "I appeal for their safe return home".

I show no fear that they have arrived in Syria, we don't want these kind here, and the only "return Home" they should expect is being incarcerated in a secure establishment.

Don't judge them by European standards, these 'kids' mature much earlier.

They might do in Afghanistan, but these are from Bethnal Green. They're likely to have led a fairly sheltered life and been indoctrinated with religious and cultural nonsense from birth. They are to be pitied more than anything.

I think part of it is that the authorities are embarassed that 3 teenagers managed to get away to Syria right under their noses.

It has nothing to do with the country where they are born, it is the culture they are born into, as you have stated later in your post. Given the chance, don't some of their families whisk them off so as to become child brides at a very early age?

You have a point Ludwig, but pitied? Feared I think is probably a better term.

Having most likely been indoctrinated from birth these sorts will not change they can only get more and more dangerous.

15 is not that young, and one is 16. Labour think 16 is old enough to vote so it is old enough to be slung out the country you hate.

Perhaps we could send the whole family on a one way ticket so they can be reunited in a place they would, presumably, fell more at home?

I am being deadly serious here, we have to start fighting this was in a different manner. It is not like any war before so 'unusual' measures must be taken.
There's some truth in that. It's not their fault if they've had their heads filled with nonsense from birth. And this particular nonsense blurs the division between right and wrong.
As for the converts, they're generally simple and have already got right and wrong mixed up.
I wonder if these families would have more control over their youngsters, if it was the law that if their children absconded they had to follow them?
I think you are being unkind to Knoo Laybore YMB let us not forget that they used the Parliament act to lower the age of gay sex to 16, so they definately think they are old enough to make their own choices. If that includes being a "comfort woman" to the nutters in Syria etc then that is their choice. I suspect the parents would have needed to be complicent for this to be feasable so on balance, I'd say just make effing sure they don't come back.
If the child of white parents in this country receive an ASBO the parents are liable to be fined. Likewise for truants.
A Muslim teenager runs off to join a terrorist organisation, banned by the law of this country, and we have to find pity and compassion for the poor ignorant parents.
Afternoon Retro, have you retired form the force.?
Afternoon danny. Not exactly retired but my avatar was cashiered :-(

Yes I’m with you entirely, youngmaf.

These youngsters obtained sufficient cash to travel and they had access to their passports which must, for at least for two of them and probably all three, have been obtained on their behalf by their parents. If their parents had no idea what they were up to then that is a shortcoming on their part. Personally I have grave doubts that they were as ignorant of their intentions as they seem to have us believe.

They should not be treated as victims. They knew what they were doing and if they are stupid enough to do it that’s their affair. As has been said, Labour believes that people of 16 should be allowed to vote so they can hardly say that they should not be allowed to freely travel where they wish.

This ridiculous business has now been headline news for more than a week. If anything it was a one-liner on page 94 between the letters and the racing results. If the parents are so distraught at their childrens’ absence they may care to go to look for them in Turkey or Syria.

Once again this is a symptom of the culture clash from which the UK is suffering. Everybody here (especially Muslims) needs to realise that the needs, requirements, foibles and beliefs of Muslims or indeed any other minority, is of little concern to the vast majority of the population. If they want to go off and fight their “Holy War” that is their privilege. And it should be the UK’s privilege to refuse them entry when it all goes pear-shaped and they want to return to Bethnal Green.
Agree with penelope at 13:37.
Can the police really afford the time and resources to follow a wild goose chase looking for these girls?
How long will they spend out there and how much ground are they prepared to cover? Let alone the expense...

The fact that a girl from the same school had already flown out and the three were spoken to does not inspire no matter what work Theresa May is doing...
