I am still looking for a Nile cruise.... the tourist industry darn sarth was worth at least a billion bucks ( to the Egyptians )
Would you like to go to the National Museum ?
No thank you - I want to be able to return for dinner ....
Tourists are not fools - if necessary they just dont turn up
cancellation fees are not a problem if there is a chance of being shot or mutliated....

I went to Egypt a few months ago. From the state of the parked empty boats on the Nile, the tourist trade is down by 90 - 95 percent. There are still crowds at Abu Simbel, for instance, but in few other places. We have to depend on the advice of the Foreign Office to tour operators - if the FO says avoid that place, the tour companies must do so or their insurance will not cover them. If the FO doesn't issue warnings, we must assume the tours will be as safe as they can be. The warnings are based on Consular information sent regularly from foreign countries to London by consulate staff.
I have visited Tunis and that superb museum, so I know what the place is like, and I grieve for those who have suffered and died.

It appears that a British woman has been killed, she was holidaying on a cruise ship.
