Should they have their British passports taken away?

I fail to see how you can 'punish' people for travelling to another country.

There is no proof of the intentions of any of these individuals, so as it stands, all they have done is cross a border.

I shall be doing the same on Tuesday, when I go to Spain on holiday - fortunately, my children are too old to be taken into care! I would not fancy internment either.

Andy, I am only going off a Oxford Educated person's comment the time I was there, I'd seen a lot of people in this market place thinking it was a holiday, it seems they were unemployed & there is no Dole / Benefits, I don't know if this is correct.

But the point remains, you cannot sanction people for what you think they may or may not be doing - fortunately, The Thought Police remain (largely!) a figment of Mr Orwell's imagination!

2 main questions.

1) on balance are their journeys to Syria suspicious?
2) if they are allowed back into the UK, would they be a danger to life in UK.

If the answer to BOTH is yes...then they should have their passports taken away and not allowed back into the UK.

Can we legally stop British citizens retuning to the UK? We may be able to deal with them once they're back but I'm not sure we can refuse to take them back!
