hey. i'm going to new york soon too. in one month, nine days, fourteen hours, fifteen minutes actually. not that i'm counting :) i'm landing in JFK as well. u can take the air train for $5 to jamaica station where u can get a subway for next to nothing to wherever u want to go. or u can use the airport service bus which is every 20 minutes to grand central station and port authority. its $13 one way. then there's a taxi, which is a flat fee of $45 but will take u right to the door of where u staying. as for accommodation, i';m staying in times square hostel which is about 19 a night, not sure what it is in dollars. if hostels are your thing then go to hostelbookers.com, if not then i dont know how to advise you. i have a whole notebook of times and prices for various attractions and stuff so if u need anymore advice just ask. another thing - getting around. subway and bus journeys are all $2 each. but i'll be getting a metrocard which comes in several types: pay-per-ride u can top up from $4 to $80 and u get one free ride for every $10 u spend. the other type is unlimited ride, which is what im getting. daily fun passes are $7 and last for unlimited bus and subway for a day, u can get a 7-day for $21 and 30-day for $70. gonna finish this little essay now. hope its helped.
