Two persons travelling one way from Burnham on sea, Somerset to Preston Lancs, either by National Express / N/Rail or any other form of travel, the cost, day time travel & the cost, any Ideas please.

train from highbridge (the nearest station to burnham) to preston takes between 4hr25 and 5hr (depending on service) generally with 2 changes (at Bristol and Birmingham), at least 1 service every hour, cheapest fare around £45.00.

coach journey from Burnham to preston (via Bristol, 2hr wait), only 1 per day leaving at 0905, takes 10 hours and costs about the same as the train.

or do a 1-way car hire - you can get a half reasonable "compact car" for around £40, and fuel will cost you about the same. with two of you in the car, it's a no-brainer.
