America - Bead Necklace Tradition?
I have seen on a few tv programmes that american youths are presented with bead necklaces when there is some sort of celebration going on.
Just wondered if anyone knew why?

New Orleans is known for its Mardi Gras celebrations. Mardi Gras is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday - the beginning of the 40 days of Lent before Easter.
