This UK school that wishes to remain anonymous. Letter from the head teacher.

"Dear Daniel and Sarah,

we noticed that Laura has a Wonder Woman lunchbox that features a super hero image. In keeping with the dress code of the school, we must ask that she not bring this to school. The dress code we have established requests that the children not bring violent images into the building in any fashion — on their clothing (including shoes and socks), backpacks and lunchboxes. We have defined "violent characters" as those who solve problems using violence. Super heroes certainly fall into that category. Asian children are still allowed images of the Prophet Muhammad, as this is considered a religious icon of peace. Please refer to the dress code section of the School Handbook. Your cooperation with our dress code will be appreciated."

What I find most disturbing about this is the salutation from someone in authority.

It should be either Dear Mr and Mrs X or, if unmarried, Dear Mr X and Miss (Mrs, Ms) Y

I agree with Jackdaw and Mamya..... there's something decidedly "iffy" about the parents being addressed by their first names on that letter, although I haven't been able to find it mentioned on Snopes, or That'sNonsense.....

I'm still nut sure about the veracity of this letter -

as advised, the informal salutation is simply not the way schools write to parents.

I would also doubt that any head teacher of any school is unaware of the dangers of portraying the Prophet, in view of the actions taken when it has occurred.

And finally, I very much doubt that any school would come down hard on a cartoon character lunch-box carried by a little girl. Children love bright cartoon images on things like lunch boxes - one of my grandsons things his Minions lunch box is the Eighth Wonder.
