Its 15 quid a time for a tour (could get a job there myself...), would be nice to go back there, knowing that in 2 hours I would be walking out again!

Wish I lived a bit nearer too murray, I probably could. Its a 40 minute drive from my home town of stoke and The only times Ive travelled it is in the back of a sweat van from S.O.T courts. (it was once my local allocation nick)

I believe they do Psibbs. The jail closed a couple of years ago and it has been leased out to a company who do 'tours' of various kinds inc. school tours, ghost tours etc.
I have to say that it was one of the better nicks that Ive had the pleasure of, the screws were not to bad and the regime was more relaxed than most.

Last time I was there was 2002, probably wouldnt recognise the place myself now.

I have visited Historic Jails in the past they can be very interesting.

Well I and the children like social history , so learning about how the inmates had to work and the archaic machines they had to use was fascinating.

Plus the bizarre punishment side too, for the more gruesome side.

Dont mind at all. Im not proud of anything though.
I was in shrewsbury nick originally in 1994 for affray
1997 for ABH (and eventualy transferred to Walton)
1999, a week or so on remand (charges got dropped)
2002 for asault.

All buildings have emotional attachments for those that used - or were forced to use - them. Nailit, can you see that your building has a different significance for history lovers?
it's also very like Melbourne Nick where Ned kelly was hung. I belive lots of folk were hung at Shrewsbury, but maybe not as famous as Ned Kelly.
