Help in deciding what type of clothes to take - covering New York, Boston, Vermont,Cape Cod - 2nd week in October. Can we expect 70 - 75 deg. or much lower? Cold once sun goes down? Thanks.

Vermont, especially the northern reaches including the Northeast Kingdom, can be quite cool in the evenings.  The days, typically, are fairly warm, averaging 60 to 70 degrees F, but can get into the 40's F in the evenings.  Cape Cod, or any other area bordering the Atlantic will be cool almost anytime this part of the year.  All the leaf peepers will be out in force, but there should be a great display of foilage colors this year.  As I mentioned on another posting, Columbus Day is October 10th.  If you're in Boston or New York, it's very festive and everyone becomes Italian in heritage for the weekend...
