We have booked to go to Dubai during Ramadan, what clothing should a lady take?

Its not that strict for tourist, but don't wear short/shorts, show cleavage, don't smoke, eat or drink till after sunset in view at shopping Malls etc.

The only safe thing for a lady to wear during Ramadamadingdong is a burger (not sure of the spelling).

Burkha - a friend's daughter works there and has a silk one for if she goes out in the street.

go naked under a full burqa - with a hijab and niqab as well and you will be ok...your OH will enjoy this....if chilly a lightweight abaya can help warm you up as your base garment....

From the website of the UAE Embassy in London:
"The dress code in the UAE is generally relaxed however visitors should take note not to wear excessively revealing clothing in public places, as a sign of respect for local culture and customs. Some Emirates adopt a more conservative dress code as well as some hotels. Swimwear is acceptable on the beaches and at hotel swimming pools.

As for the weather requirements, lightweight summer clothing is suitable for most of the year (summer, spring and autumn), though a light sweater or cardigan could be handy when visiting a shopping mall, hotel or restaurant where the temperature might be kept too low to counter the outdoor heat. Slightly heavier clothes are needed for the short winter season, especially in the evening"

This is the recommended Dubai beach wear, available all over London so make sure you buy before you go to avoid the rush !

For the less restrictive western hotel swimming pools this may be acceptable but not in pink!

Remember that Dubai has many 'Skyscraper Hotels' but no sewage system, it relies on tankers to remove the waste . Make sure your beach is not too near the dumping ground for this lot. A peg for your nose may be a good fashion accessory!
