Working Visa To New Zealand.
8 Answers
i have a job offer of management role to new zealand. i have both irish and uk passports as i am dual national ( belfast NI)
i was in toruble in my younder days in uk though i have answered all the pre visa questions regarding this to my employer and they said it is ok. infact my new employer told me he had a criminal record when he was younger and actually spent time in prison.
anyway, i am wondering , since my crimes were in uk many years ago, is it,would it be better to apply to NZ embassy in dublin under my irish nationality ?
what would be best. under irish system i obviously would not come up under any radar as being invoved in crime as my crimes were in uk and on uk database.
and is it better to apply as an irish citizen than a uk citizen ( maybe the same )

Last century I worked with quite a few Irish people who were not able to come to Oz for work. They emigrated to NZ, did the paperwork upon arrival to become NZ citizens then promptly moved to Oz.
The kiwis seemed to be very welcoming to the Irish.
Whatever you do be very honest answering any questions and filling out the forms. It's a long and expensive journey just to be put on the next plane home.
Good luck.

If you don't fall under those categories, they may well consider a character waiver - I don't think they're myuch bothered by minor offences or ones that happened years ago; but note the last clause:

When we make a decision about whether we'll grant a character waiver, we take into account things, like:
how long ago the event that created the character issue occurred
the circumstances surrounding the offence or incident
the person's circumstances, including their ties to New Zealand and reasons for applying for a visa
the nature of any information falsely provided or withheld during a visa application (if this applies), and whether the person deliberately intended to mislead or withhold information from us.
