any one know, i want to book a holiday for my 7 year old but it is from late aug - mid sept, i think it would be not good to let my daughter start late season when all rest of class is established.

Irrelevant of fines I agree that the start of the year is the worst time for a child to miss school. It's when routines and relationships with the class and teachers are formed and could put your daughter back socially and with her studies. I don't think missing a week or so of school any other time is a big deal at all but this I wouldn't do.
