Safe(Ish)Holiday Destination Ideas Please

We can go away for two weeks in October somewhere abroad. Whether I'm over reacting or not I can safely rule out Tunisia, Turkey, and Germany ,even France is worrying me. I know that nowhere is safe and anything could happen anywhere but have you any suggestions that are probably safer than others? Dont mind long flights ..... TIA xx

I'd be worried about the pirates.

Spain, north of Benidorm does it for me. Lovely wee towns and very relaxing.

The Caribbean is nice especially Barbados but the mosquito problem is getting worse.

I`ve never been bothered by mozzies in Barbados. Not to the extent that a bit of DEET can sort out anyway.

If you don`t want to do the Caribbean, Cancun can be alright if you pick the right place. As can the Dominican Republic. They are not very developed for tourism but there are one or two places that are OK and cheaper than the established islands.

Yep...I'd go for Malta. Lots of things to do, cheap public transport, great food.

How about Madeira? Weather should be good. Beautiful island, no beaches, but all hotels have pools, and there are many great deals. (If you are a nervous flier, don't look out of the left-side window on landing!) Many beautiful gardens and trips you can take, great food, and not expensive.

Cyprus, plenty of sunshine in October, have been going there for the first three weeks in October for approx 10 years now and had super weather, 25-30 degrees, nice food, drive on same side of the road, safe, even have UK bases there IF any problems.
